LNG – FUTURE FUEL FOR HEAVY TRANSPORTATION

aoty has helped various German companies participate in state-supported funding programs for the development of LNG (Liquified Natural Gas) infrastructure.

The aim of these programs is to improve the infrastructure of LNG filling stations in Germany and to create alternative fuel options for freight transport. Through these programs, the transportation of goods by national and international companies can be switched to the lower-emission fuel LNG in the long run.

LNG as a fuel produces 70% less NOx, 95% less particulate matter and 10% less CO2-emissions. In addition, it creates 70% less noise pollution in cities and is not affected by diesel driving bans. Besides its usage in heavy transportation, LNG is also suitable for relieving emissions in city traffic – keyword “last mile problem”.

LNG is a future fuel option that has largely been left out of discussions. Upon examining its political and societal benefits, however, it should certainly be kept in mind in green mobility planning.
