With an aching heart we say goodbye to Daniel Lautensack who passed away on May 4, 2019. Tears accompany me as I try to put my unspeakable sadness about his untimely death into words. Six weeks have come and gone and I still think of this great man every day. Thomas Hering has spoken from the heart when he said: “I expect Daniel will call at any moment or stand at my front door, with his bag thrown casually over his right shoulder and crack one of his dry humored jokes”.
I miss his inimitable nature and regret not having spent more time with him as do countless people all over the world. Daniel was the type of man that once you had met him you would hold him close to your heart. He had a dazzling personality: humor empathetic, creative, competent, cognizant, open-minded, wickedly funny, knowing, curious, sporty and lovingly boyish. The list of positive qualities is endless. Daniel was someone very special and I am honoured to have been able to know him and share my memories with all of you. Daniel will be missed dearly but his memory will live on in all of us forever.
