VW presents new electric vehicle with starting price of under 25.000 Euros

VW has provided a glimpse into the next generation of its electric vehicles through a new study. The ID2.all aims to be an electric car for everyone in the future. Production of the electric subcompact is expected to begin in 2025.

Here are the data and facts: Approximately 250 horsepower, a range of 450 kilometers, 0 to 100 km/h in under seven seconds, and a very high charging capacity are the main characteristics of the new model. Charging from 10% to 80% is expected to be completed in just 20 minutes.

However, achieving this would require an average charging capacity of around 120 kW, assuming a speculated battery capacity of 57 kWh. This is a level of charging capacity that the current flagship model, the ID.3 Pro, only achieves at its peak. Therefore, it remains uncertain whether this charging capacity will be offered with the base model priced at 25,000 euros.

VW has not provided detailed information about the battery capacity and architecture thus far.

A small VW with ample space

The dimensions of the ID2.all are also promising. With a length of just under four meters, the vehicle would fall into the subcompact category, making it shorter than a VW Polo. However, in terms of interior space and volume, it is quite different.

The new model is rumored to offer a cargo capacity of 490 to 1,330 liters (with the rear seats folded down). This would even surpass the current Golf in terms of cargo space.

Therefore, it remains to be seen whether the new electric car will indeed enter the market with these specifications in 2025 and if the promised base version price of 25,000 euros can be maintained.
