aoty^® participated in today’s Fridays for Future demonstrations. Fridays for Future (originally Swedish: Skolstrejk för klimatet) is a global student movement demanding action to prevent further global warming and climate change. The latest Global Strike for Future, which took place on the 15th of March 2019, had an impressive turnout of 1.5 million people in 125 countries. Following the example of Greta Thunberg, students strike in front of their closest town hall during school hours.

The weekly demonstrations are organized and carried out by the students themselves.

The aim of the climate strikes is to draw attention to shortcomings in climate policies and to introduce measures for climate protection.

The most important objectives are as follows:

• End the degradation of fossil fuels as part of the energy revolution
• End subsidies for fossil fuel energy production
• Increase investments in renewable energy
• Develop local public transport as part of a holistic mobility system
• Lower the voting age in order to increase the opportunities for younger people
